NURSERY DAY

Nurture Nursery sessions are for three hours, see opening time section for more information,

At the beginning of each session children are encouraged to bring in there own photograph card from outside Nurture Nursery and place it in their key person's box and hang up their coat.

Once children have said their goodbyes to their parents/carers they are free to go off and explore their favourite activities, inside or out.

Nurture Nursery sessions are free flow and mostly child initiated. During each session children will attend an adult led group time session and they will have a healthy snack time with their friends and their key person.

Group time sessions are developmentally appropriate and purposefully planned to encourage learning, they give children a wealth of opportunities to develop different skills, whilst also having lots of fun, these include speech and language, social skills, fine motor, large motor and mathematical to name a few! The list of opportunities is endless. They are always exciting and interesting, and this is where our children learn to do 'good sitting' 'good listening' and 'good looking'

Group time activities include:

  • Stories
  • Songs and Rhymes
  • What's in the box
  • Dough Disco
  • Rhythm Sticks
  • Forest School
  • Music and Movement
  • Messy Play
  • Sensory Play
  • Cooking
  • Yoga

Nappy changing takes place throughout the session, as required, and staff are mindful not to interrupt children at crucial times e.g. when a child is particularly absorbed or involved in an activity.

We end every Nurture Nursery session with song time and before the children leave they return their photographs to the board outside.
